Twin Hills Writing Workshop in partnership with CITAD Kano, ANA Kano, For the Love of Poetry (FLP) and All Poets Network (APNET) is calling writers between the ages of 13-19 to apply for their workshop which will be facilitated by Mujaheed Ameen Lilo and Ali Mamman Lawan.

The workshop is set to take place on 26th December, 2020


•Must be resident of Kano state
•Must be between 13-19 years

To apply send an email to with a sample of your work. Specify in the Subject, whether it’s poetry or prose. Mention your age in the body of the mail.
Only 30 will be selected. They will be awarded certificates at the closing ceremony where veteran writers like Dr Maryam Ali, Dr Ismail Bala, Khalid Imam, Dr Auwalu Yusufu Hamza and others would speak to the participants. There will also be poetry performances by Mariya Sidi and Naseeba Babale


Ali Mamman Lawan was born in Kano, Nigeria on the 23rd of September, 2002. He has his origin from Yusufari, Yobe State. He attended John Gulson Primary School in Coventry, UK and was later enrolled in Musa Iliasu College, Kano after his return to Nigeria. He emerged as the best graduating student and successfully launched his first novel titled, “Tears on a Red Rose” on his graduation day. He is currently a level one accounting student in Bayero University Kano (BUK). He likes to read, write, travel and play video games. Besides being a young published author, Ali is also a poet.

Mujaheed Ameen Lilo, a Nigerian teen author, studies English and Literature at ABU Zaria. He is the winner of The Wole Soyinka Essay Competition 2019 and 2nd Place Winner of Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors 2020. His works have appeared in The Lagos Review, The Nigeria Review, Daily Trust, Praxis, Blueprint, A Long House and others. He was a panelist at Lagos Book and Art Festival and PIN 5th Anniversary.
